'Windborne' was designed by Sparkman & Stevens in 1955 and built by The Paul Molich Shipyard in Denmark. After a remarkable journey, racing in the Baltic and England, she sailed on her own bottom home to New York, NY, in 1957.
'Windborne' was purchased in 2019 from two yachtsmen who had partnered in her since 1976, mooring her front row on Lake Michigan along Lakeshore Dr. The two partners, with unwavering dedication, sailed and raced her for over 40 years, maintaining her in her original condition. Her current owners were also captivated by her charm and potential, leading them to purchase her and embark on a journey to restore her to her original glory. They now hope to find her a forever home with a family to give her another 68 years of racing and sailing pleasure.
From 2019 to 2025, the current owner has invested well over $500,000 to bring her to Bristol condition and winner of the "People's Choice" award at the Newport Beach Wooden Boat Festival in 2024.
